UF Health Jacksonville honors 2023 awardees for patient safety efforts

UF Health Jacksonville today awarded six recipients for their patient safety efforts across the world with the 2023 Robert Wears Patient Safety Award. The award is named in honor of Robert L. Wears, M.D., Ph.D., M.S., for his pioneering work to improve patient safety. Dr. Wears was an emergency medicine physician in the UF College of Medicine – Jacksonville for nearly three decades and transformed patient safety research.

PAMI recognized with patient safety leadership award

The Pain Assessment and Management Initiative, or PAMI, at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville is the 2021 recipient of the Robert L. Wears Patient Safety Leadership Award for the team category.

A Splash of Color

Recently, several upgrades were made to UF Health Jacksonville’s Pediatric Emergency Room and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, or PICU. Funds raised by volunteers and participants for UF Health Jacksonville’s Run for Heroes 5k in 2019 helped finance these changes, which included a colorful makeover to the PICU.

Ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal interventions enhance precision and accuracy for the procedures used to give these patients a greater chance of symptom relief.
