Navigating Over-the-Counter Medications to Manage Pain

If you have visited the emergency department for care and need additional support to manage your pain, you may likely go to your local pharmacy or store looking for relief. It can be challenging to make sense of the multiple pain medication options on the shelf. Medications available for purchase without a prescription are called over-the-counter, or OTC, medications.

Faculty receive patient quality and safety award

Faculty members at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville have been awarded UF’s W. Martin Smith Interdisciplinary Patient Quality and Safety Award. Thomas Beardsley, MD, and Colleen Kalynych, EdD, received the award for their proposal titled, “Utilization of an Escape Room for Teaching Patient Safety.” Beardsley and Kalynych will receive nearly $20,000 to conduct this project on the Jacksonville campus at the Center for Simulation Education and Safety Research, or CSESaR.
